Debbie has always had a passion for all things furry. From a young age she had Hampsters and rabbits and would borrow people's dogs to walk. By the age of 11 she was constantly badgering her parents for a dog and would walk to the cats and dogs home at weekends to volunteer to help look after the abandoned dogs often walking home with one to say can we have this one. At long last they bought Hammish a beautiful bearded collie. Hammish required regular professional grooming and so they found Hazel “Hair n Hound” dog grooming.
At the age of 15 Debbie did her weeks work experience for Hazel and that week she discovered her passion for dog grooming which continues to this day 31 years later. After a 3 year apprenticeship Debbie left and set up her first mobile grooming business which was a great success. During this time she entered the first ever Eurogroom dog grooming competition winning her class and took and passed her city & guilds dog grooming exam.
After 3 years she decided she wanted to see some of the world and so set off travelling. While in Australia she worked for Lance Wright Australia's top poodle breeder and exhibitor in Brisbane learning invaluable grooming skills under his expert guidance and Later Cynthia Carter Robins dog studio in Adelaide most definitely the busiest salon she has ever worked in with more than 50 dogs a day coming through the doors.
Since returning to the UK Debbie has lived and has run her own successful business Muckypups dog grooming in Somerset and showed Japanese Shiba inus with some success winning her class twice at crufts with her home bred dog Besheva Zen. In 2002 she returned to Cornwood Devon to be nearer her family and has had Muckypups running successfully here for 14 years and now shares her life with her cheeky little border terriers occasionally breeding a litter of puppies because she adores having them. She also worked part time at Scoobydees Dog grooming salon in Elburton from 2010 to 2015.
In 2014 Debbie moved into Ivybridge and converted her garage into a grooming salon through word of mouth her business grew so much she decided to leave the salon and concentrate on her own business. She takes a great pride in her work . Every dog is handled with great patience and care and becomes part of her doggy extended family. Many of her customers have been with her since starting her business and she now grooms their 2nd or 3rd dog which is a testament to the care and attention and great haircut she gives them. After 31 years Debbie feels she has perfected both her handling skills and grooming skills and can offer your dog the best possible grooming experience. She also has a wealth of knowledge on general health, skin & behavioral issues which can be invaluable to clients and has saved lives.
